What is Foundayo (orforglipron)?
Foundayo is the brand name for orforglipron, a once-daily pill from Eli Lilly for adults with obesity, or adults who are overweight and also have a weight-related health problem. GLP-1 is a natural gut hormone. It tells the pancreas to release insulin, signals the brain that you are full, and slows digestion. Medicines that copy it, such as semaglutide (Ozempic and Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Mounjaro), reduce appetite and lower blood sugar. Until recently, almost all were injections.

Lilly has said India is on its list. The head of Lilly India, Winselow Tucker, has said the company is committed to making orforglipron available in India, subject to regulatory approvals. For now, the only route is a patient-specific import with a prescription, usually via a hospital, which is costly and uncommon.
Lilly has filed for approval in more than 40 countries, and broad international availability is widely expected around 2027. India’s timing rests with its own regulator and is not confirmed. How much weight can you lose on Foundayo?
In its main obesity trial, ATTAIN-1, adults on the highest dose lost about 12 percent of their body weight on average over 72 weeks. That is roughly 27 pounds, or about 12 kilograms, in the full ATTAIN-1 results. By a stricter measure that counts everyone who started, the figure was closer to 11 percent.
Those results are strong, though a little below the best injections. Novo’s oral Wegovy pill reached about 14 percent in its own study, and the strongest injections go higher still. So Foundayo trades a small amount of weight loss for the ease of a daily tablet.
Foundayo price in India: what it costs now
Since the Foundayo price in India is not set yet, the best guide is the US price, which Lilly has published. For India, the pattern is clear. Indian drug prices are usually a fraction of US prices, thanks to local price rules and generic making. Foundayo dose chart and how to take it
Foundayo is a once-daily tablet, and its main plus is convenience. Unlike the earlier oral semaglutide pill, it can be taken at any time of day, with or without food and water. Treatment starts low and rises slowly to reduce side effects. This step-up is called titration.

Foundayo side effects

- A personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer, or MEN2 (multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2).
- Pregnancy, or planning pregnancy. It is not advised in pregnancy, and Lilly keeps a pregnancy registry.
- Breastfeeding, unless your doctor agrees.
- A history of pancreatitis, which is swelling of the pancreas.
- Severe gastroparesis, where the stomach empties too slowly.
- Anyone under 18. Foundayo is not approved for children.

The most common reason people stop a GLP-1 early is stomach upset, not lack of effect. Starting low and moving up only when the body is ready prevents most of it. Smaller, lower-fat meals in the first weeks help too. For someone with type 2 diabetes already on insulin or a sulfonylurea, blood sugar needs close watching.
